UD landed a pretty good player for the 2010 class.

Dayton keeps 2010 forward in state
6-foot-6 combo forward Ralph Hill has verbally committed to the University of Dayton's 2010 class, ESPN, Scouts Inc. has learned.

The staff at Scouts Inc. had this to say about Hill:

"Ralph is an athletic combination forward with the skill set to legitimately play either forward spot. Offensively, he can shoot with range to 19 feet and is also effective in the low post where he has solid turn and face skills. He is a good rebounder for a wing forward and is a capable defender but sometimes struggles in space versus quicker wings.

On how he will fit in at Dayton:

"Hill should fit in well for the Flyers with his versatility. He can score very well from the high post and he can get to the basket from that position. Ralph is one of the top players in the state of Ohio but he will need to continue to hone his skills and learn to keep his effort high and consistent in order to be successful in the Atlantic 10."

Ralph had only picked up offers from MAC schools to this point in addition to UD according to Rivals. He was probably going to pick up some more from a higher level soon and they got him early. Their class for 2010 is going to be a large one and I think Ralph will fit in nicely with what their building up there.

As we all know, there's is such a thing as lip service. He only verbaled, which doesn't really mean anything. He could always change his mind.

If you have given a verbal to UD, it's a good indication you don't have a mind.

6 in total. 3 remaining with transfer Josh Parker signed, and Juwan Staten and Ralph Hill verballed. The top targets are Adreian Payne (obviously), Allen Payne from Winton Woods, and a slew of SG options. Jalen Steele from Knoxville, TN... possibly recent OSU decommit Cameron Wright depending on who you believe, among others.

Yes, technically it means nothing, but there's a stigma associated with verballing and then changing your mind, so barring big changes on a coaching staff or a "mutual" decision to de-commit (a la Cameron Wright and OSU), players typically stick with their word.

I mean, we had five commitments in last year's class for almost a year before the season started, and they all stayed true. There was also little to no indication that Parrom, Latham or Weatherspoon were going to leave before Miller bolted.

Sure, anything can happen, but it typically doesn't.

I doubt he decommits...barring a BG coaching change or something along those lines he'll stay a Flyer. He was very high on Akron when that one asst coach was there who just left for OSU. Right before his verbal to UD he cancelled trips by ND and Ga Tech....so the bigger schools were finally starting to come calling but probably too late...almost identical to what happened with UD and Chris Johnson.

For what it's worth, X's Brian Snow has him anywhere on any given day in the Ohio class of 2010 ranked 8-12. Not a signing that turns heads but it's a safe one for now and Hill sounds like a solid player.

According to Riivals, Ralph Hill chose UD over Ohio, Kent and Ball State.

Rivals has him listed as a "no star" player.

Rivals is wrong. He chose UD over Akron and Butler. GT and Notre Dame were looking to him. Scouts Inc puts him at an 86/100.

Solid recruit.

I saw an 86 out of 100 as well. That is why I posted as a solid recruit.
I thought the no star recruit was a little off base.

Wow, they stole him from Akron? ND and GT were "looking" at him? He must be good.

And Butler, other than the Howard kid, is not generally recruiting top 100 talent.
