I stumbled upon this article:

Seems like relatively mild stuff. Matta forced out actual actual players during his time at X (as did Miller). It's all part of the game (which I don't approve of).
The bottom line: the NCAA coaching profession is inherently slimy. Don't grow too attached to the coaches.

Great, they are gonna give it to Witherspoon. It would be apropos for Sean Miller to contract swine flu.
Interesting to read Thad's OSU kids aren't scholars. Can't wait to see the GPA's out of Zona.

HA! Zona is NBA preparatory central. They don't need to graduate.

Does anyone know if Xavier is now interested in the kid or not?

Xavier is full at Shooting Guard for a few years. Unless there's a transfer there just aren't any minutes available.

With the loss of scholly's because of a bad APR from the early departures, I'm not sure that Oh-ho-ho State even has enough left to go around- unless a Greg Oden-type shove out occurs to let Weatherspoon in.
Besides the guys that left for the NBA, Anthony Crater transferred out this year too. Evan Turner will be gone after next year when Weatherspoon is a senior. By my count that's 6 guys in 3 years. That has to mean losing two scholarships by my understanding and Toucan allegedly already has a full class for 2010.
I'm not wasting my time looking too deep into it, but if there is someone who cares out there, post away.

It may not be right from a moral standpoint, but people don't often realize that scholarships are only 1 year and get renewed on an annual basis. If the coaches feel that the players aren't performing up to their standards and want to recruit over them, they'll take the heat if they feel they can get someone better.
There is no mandate that scholarships have to be for 4 years, athletic or academic. If students and student-atheletes don't live up to their minimum requirements, the universities are free to yank them as they feel necessary.
