Very interesting and scary.
In the eyes of the NCAA, what is the difference between Facebook and an internet forum site such as this?
We have some users who have claimed publicly on here to be All For One members which would make them boosters. We have boards devoted to recruiting and people weigh in on what they like dislike about each recruit.
But its not just us, I imagine every Div 1 basketball team of note has a message board somewhere, and on all of them I'm sure recruits get discussed. Sites such as Rivals stand to make a lot of cash from fans of all the different schools who want the insider track on recruiting.
Will the NCAA say next we can't talk about recruits? I'm taking the side that the NCAA needs to grow up and join the 21st century. Then there is that whole freedom of speach thing the NCAA wants to try to sweep under the rug. I've got to think there has to be a difference between talking ABOUT a recruit and talking TO a recruit. We all should know the latter is a big time no no.

Ya, I agree with this thought. I think the NCAA is getting a little ridiculous here. I think they are way overstepping their bounds here. If you look at my Facebook page you can see that I am a Xavier fan, even though I dont attend Xavier, so would the NCAA be able to tell Xavier if I dont take a message on my page asking a recruit to come to Xavier off that they will be penalized?

Now hear this.
Do not mess with the NCAA, no matter how many amendments to the Constitutions it violates or has violated and they are many.
The NCAA considers their organization above the Constitution. Sue them and you'll find out why.
That means stop all "come to Xavier, Come to Xavier" messages and stay completely away from posting on facebok or utube...
Seriously, people, I dealt with the NCAA for more than 35 years and YOU CAN NOT WIN.
Which means Xavier can not win. Consider them invincible.

If they can't make money, then it's not legal.
