Miami hockey just might make it to a national championship game.
Too bad they had to do it against a team no one has ever heard of.
But they have seemed to have their way for the most part.

Miami just scored after Bemidji took out its goalie in the hopes of having another attacker.
4-1 Miami

Too bad hockey just isnt a sport most people care about in Cincinnati because obviously Miami's team is really good. I dont care much for hockey but have gotten to like it more from being in St. Louis the last 5 years. People here love hockey and its a big sport in the high schools and grade schools too.

Blue Jackets - Playoffs for the first time
Cyclones - in the playoffs again defending the Kelley Cup
Ohio = Hockey Mecca

Hockey in Oxford has as much to do with the humidity in Mexico as it does hockey in Cincinnati.
I can't say enough how much HD does for watching hockey. I'm yelling at the TV during the VT/BU game. They're really going at it. I like Miami's chances on Saturday. Miami really cruised to their win earlier, and these teams are beating the snot oot of each other, eh.

The power play is a fun thing to watch. All tied up VT/BU with a minute to go in the 2nd.

What do Dayton girls and Vermont's goalie have in common?

It's easy to score in the 5 hole

Nope.
They both take their pads off after three periods.

It would appear that would be Boston's goalie.

I meant because of the fact that he was posting about hockey on a board were most people are from Cincinnati. And most of them dont care.

You're spot on that Cincinnati is not a hockey town. The Cyclones enjoyed a brief stint as Cincinnati's darlings in the early 90's, but it would appear, in hindsight, that Cincinnatians just enjoyed the cheap night out with fighting.
It wasn't hard to get $3 tickets to Cyclones games when they were playing at the Gardens. That was a fun night out.

You couldn't be more right about this. We get almost all of the Red Wings games in HD up here and it makes all the difference in the world. Aside from the Stanley Cup playoffs, I probably wouldn't watch very much hockey if it weren't for HD.
I am an HD whore. I'll watch insects screwing if it's in HD.
Broadcast quality aside, I'm happy for my alma mater and will be flying my big Miami flag from the garage this weekend. A national title would be awesome, even if I'm just one of the dozens of people that know about it.

Well, they just set a record last week w/ over 11,000 fans in their playoff game at US Bank arena. In this economy, that's not too bad. I would say half were there for hockey and half were there for a cheap night out. There are no $3.00 tickets anymore. Not even close.

I thought they were in that range. Not too bad. I like taking in Clones game every now and then. Haven't been to a game in at least a year though.

Are you sure about that? I thought the playoffs just started .
From the fishwrap:
A crowd of 2,376, the largest weeknight turnout of the season saw the Cyclones suffer their first loss in eight divisional semifinal games under Weber.

i wish more people would give hockey a chance because it is probably the best live sporting event to go to. The problem is football, but not the game of football itself. Football is perfect for tv with the way the game is played and how the field is set up. It's just very easy to follow. So now every major sport is compared to football and how it is watched on tv. Ever since i started going to games i have come to love watching them on tv as well. When a playoff hockey game goes to OT it is impossible to change the channel. No other sport can say that. Sadly hockey will never catch on like it did in the 70s but it still the best of the 4 major sports to watch live.

Football cant say that? One play and the game can be over.

my point is that there is stoppages in play in the other sports. There are no commericals once OT starts in Hockey, you either watch it the whole way through or risk missing the game winning goal. In otherwords, you do not leave your seat. Technically baseball is the same way in the bottom innings, but when the away team scores the game is not currently over. In football there is still a stoppage before every play. And basketball is played the whole way through.

I really have little interest in hockey--just shouting out for the local team.
I'll occasionally watch a game on TV, but it's so hard to follow and the scoring is seldom. No matter how much skill they have to play the game, it's not exciting to me.
I think I prefer the sports that take the least amount of equipment to get into the game. Got a ball and hoop? You gotta game. A bat, a ball and a mitt? Good to go.
However I find soccer unbelievably boring.

OT in hockey, especially playoff hockey, is unique because of the speed of the game.
And sirthought, there's no shame in having preferences. I love playing golf. I hate watching golf on TV. I like to tune it in for a few minutes to see how beautiful the courses are, but watching it for an afternoon is like watching paint dry to me.
For whatever reason, I can really get into watching hockey on TV (again, as long as it's HD). I watched nearly the entire VT/BU game last night, and it was a great one.

I think it was the last game right before the playoffs?. Whatever the case, it was in last Sunday's paper. I remember it as I did a double take at the attendance figure. I'm not making it up.
