It appears that Coach Miller is experiencing a lot of negative fallout as he begins his tenure as Wildcat coach.

First Chase Budinger(18 ppg and 6.2 rpg) and now Jordan Hill (18.3 ppg and 11 rpg) will leave Arizona early to place themselves in the NBA draft (representing the two highest-scorers and rebounders on the team). It's true that they both may have made the same choice had someone other than Sean Miller been selected to coach the Wildcats. But it is somewhat comforting to know that all is not peaches and cream at the Big Six programs either!

I don't blame either one for leaving. If you have a shot at being a lottery pick, why would you want to stick around after the emotional year you experienced when you could get paid, maybe even better the the new coach that just came in?

Which brings me to a point...I wonder if Sean is upset that these guys left? That would be pretty funny. Even the guys who could immediately help him win a title have decided it's not that important to them. To the guys who actually play.

Another thing, I think Sean will wish he had guys like Stan and BJ. He had a great hand in developing them as players, and it will be interesting to see if Miller can get guys like that at Arizona and win. I think Sean will be able to land five star recruits, both those kids are not going to stick around four years.

Then again, maybe Sean doesn't care. I certainly don't know him at all.

Those two guys were gone no matter who the coach was. They are both projected lottery picks. Sean knew they were gone when he took the job.

The question will be Nic Wise. Sean actually reached out to him during his press conference asking him to stay for his senior year. My guess is that Wise's move will depend on what Curry, Teague, and Mills decide. This could be a point guard heavy draft if all of those guys go pro.

Miller is going to have to think differently now that he is at a BCS school. Those guys routinely lose a lot of guys year-in and year-out. One of the keys to our success is having mature players. We are deep most years because our good young players are coming off of the bench. At many BCS schools, the youngsters are having to play major roles long before they are ready.

Very true.

The system employed at Xavier is much different than one at a school like Arizona. Miller may get a higher quality of athlete, but many he's not going to have for nearly as long to develop and acclimate to the system.

I wish him the best.

Which is again why this thing is funny.

Over the years we have continued to build success. That success attracts players, higher though of players, to the program. Miller being the central point of the program is able to add those players along with the more seasonsed veteran. Meaning:

He can add to depth by getting a plyer like Frease to add to players like BJ. Frease didn't have to carry the load as a freshmen, but added an important piece off the bech. This year's team is an exmaple of how that building some become successful.

Miller knows he will be open to a completely new door. Instead of one MCDAA who transfered, he can get two in one class. However, those kids aren't going to stay, so he needs to figure out how to add to depth. Most elite teams don't have that really.
