I love you guys and gals. All of you. Even people I have pissed in past intentional or not.

Why?

Because we are Musketeers for life.

I don't care if no one responds, I'm the death of starting threads, but damn it, I woke up today and it was another great day being a Musketeer. I sleep under a Xavier flag. Yeah, that's right, I'm 33 year old single guy and I have the Damn Xavier flag hanging over my bed. Last thing I see at night, first thing I see in the morning is that Xavier flag.

First thing I do when I wake up is come here. To hang out with other Xavier fans, talking about Xavier. Last thing I do before I go to back is...well I brush my teeth, but then I think about how awesome it is to be a Musketeer. (remember, I'm 33 and single. Very important in context)

We're all Musketeers. From the guys who were on the voy system, to MM, to Pablo (PABLO!) board, to Xavierhoops, I've seen this army grow. Man I love it!

Bring on the new coach!
Bring on the new year!
Bring on the new women!

Pass the Kool-Aid boys We are all Musketeers!

NIce post, DC. I have been a Muskie fan for 18 of my 54 years. That is 1/3 of my life. Of those 18 years, I have been on Muskie message boards for past 6 years. That is 1/3 of my time as a muskie fan.

I am not sure what that means, but by golly, pass the Kool-Aid.

I was an IU fan until I enrolled at X in 1996. I've not looked back. It's been a great 12 for me so far.

I love it! I started listening to Xavier games in 1987. Which means XU87 is a hell of a lot older then me. Went to my first game in 1989.

That was four coaches ago.

In the Gardens

I had a girlfriend then I'm pretty sure.

Muskie since the days of 1982 and Schmidt Fieldhouse (with a keg in the bleachers, anyone remember those), and my flag is outside of my garage...

My flag flies in my 5 year old's bedroom. I am giving him the same honor my father gave me as a young boy. That honor is that he will have no choice but to be an XU basketball fan....no matter where he goes to college. I was at XU games in diapers...cloth diapers. There were simply no other options at the smails household. You root for XU or you don't follow basketball.

My 5 year old loathes UD and UC. Ask him about the Bearcats and he'll tell you that "they don't do good in school". Ask him about the flyers and he'll tell you that they "smell the glove." I am brainwashing him for his own good and he will be more of a man for it.

My larger X flag flies outside my house. The smaller one is prominently displayed in my office so everybody who walks by has to see it. It's also for the benefit of my boss who is a Huggins-worshipper. If he wants to see me, he has to see the X flag. And the two senior night posters on the perpendicular wall. And the framed photos of X beating UC over the past two season on the next wall. And the X coffee mug and Musketeer mini-bank on my desk. If I'm not in my office, he can turn green with envy watching the Xavier screen saver which rotates through photos of the past several seasons.

My Great Uncle went to Xavier and played football.

My uncle went to Xavier and played basketball.

My Father in Law went to Xavier.

I went to Xavier despite never living in Cincinnati before I set foot on campus.

My youngest daughter went to Xavier.

Musketeer Blue is in our veins and blue will always be bled.

Musketeers for Life? Hell, Yeah....and no traitors, money grubbers, or opportunists will ever ruin my school.

We will prevail!!!!!!!!!! Atta boy DC!!

I'm Xavier till I die!

I know I am, I'm sure I am

I'm Xavier till I die!

There have been many times I have been 100% sure DC Muskie was a total whackpod. And I still do. But damnit, he is effing A right on this one!

Xavier for life, man. I will gladly send in my check next week for next year's season ticket donation, and I have no doubt this "machine" will keep on rolling.

We win championships, produce good coaches, players and people in general, and we win again. Then when we are done with that nonesense, we win more championships.

That much ain't changing. It's what we do. Period!!

I went to X largely because my sister did too. She was a Senior in 1987 when I was a Freshman. I must admit I hadn't heard of Xavier before she attended X. I became a fan instantly and have never looked back. I attended as many games as I could as a student, often causing my studies to suffer but it was worth it. I have 2 XU flags, a couple of framed X pictures, one of the campus and one of the Cintas Center and a ton of other XU merchandise. My license plates are "LUVXU". I have had tickets since graduating, strating w/ a six pack at first and then later buying season tickets.

I will always be an X fan. I bleed blue and still get that tingly feelign when I set foot on campus. I have been here for Gillen, Skip, Matta, and Miller. I anxiously await to see who will lead X to their first Final Four.

Ok...off topic question here. On your user CP what does a "gray" box mean? Did I get neg repped?

This is a great thread!

I've been a Xavier fan my whole life. I went to my first X bball game when I was four years old back in 1984. I even still have my t-shirt from when we went to our first Sweet Sixteen under Gillen (even though it doesn't fit anymore). Xavier is a family affair for us. My dad, uncle, cousins, sister and I all went to XU.

But, best of all, my husband and I met at Dana's! We had the Bryan Adams song All for One played at our wedding with a special announcement made that it was a dance for X grads (because over half the guests had ties to X), and my bridesmaids wore dark blue (X blue) dresses and carried white flowers and the guys wore dark blue vests under their tuxedos because they were all X grads!!

Now we have a daughter and even though she's only six months old, she's been to five games, and has three t-shirts, a D'Artagnan plush, a Blue Blob plush, a Xavier dress and on and on.

We are a Xavier family :)

I'm a long time fan of XU. My dad was on the faculty from 1962 until 2005. (I think those were the years.)

I have 3 brothers who all attended XU in one form or another (either undergrad or grad school).

I started watching XU Basketball when Dick Campbell was the coach. Watched through the Tay Baker years and have followed them since.

I remember watching the football team (until they dropped football) back in Cochran Field and going to the Basket Ball in Schmidt Fieldhouse. I remeber the days of Steve Spivey, Bob King (the first 7 footer at XU), and others.

Since we lived on Marion Ave, I was able to walk to the games and usually got tickets from some of the ball players -- we used to sneak into the fieldhouse and watch the practices.

I moved out of Cincinnati in 1983, so it was harder to follow them, but this year, I got the Sports Pack and got to watch all of the Muskies games.

XU Basket Ball has a great tradition over the last 29 years (Since the hiring of Bob Staak) and it will continue even though we have lost another good coach. The upperclassmen will teach the incoming coaches and the younger players the "Xavier Way".

All For One and One For All!!!

I think it means you were repped by someone that doesn't have enough power/presence on the boards yet to really affect your rep points.

DC, thanks as always for trying to rally the troops. I'm disappointed that Sean is leaving but just can't get too upset about it. We are X; he is not (anymore).

I met some of my best friends at X. I met my husband thanks to X. I believe in God and the Power of X.

I love it. Another day the Lord has made, and he keeps making Musketeers. How about that? Six months old and in it forever!

I met lots of women at Xavier. None of them wanted to marry me. Who cares, I still love em!

I love all you guys/gals
DC, I wish my wife would let me put the flag over the bed. Mine is on the porch, "XAVIER" is my license plate, and wait till I get done with the man cave, it'll be in time for the 09-10 season!

90 grad, got to cover the win over Georgetown in Indy for WKRC-AM (and got paid)

First XU game was at the gardens, I wish I could step back in time and watch one in the Fieldhouse, I love that building. Biggest thrill in my life (next to daughters birth) Being the floor announcer for XU WBB, while doing that I got to call some high school playoff games, I was the first to announce Josh Duncan and Dante Jackson's names on the Cintas Floor.
Sold my wife on Xavier b-ball (she hated sports) and even converted a Temple/St Joes alum (he's a dentist) up here!

I am now totally 100% obsessed over XH, and the search. Musketeer for life, yes!!!!

Been a Muskie since '90 when I decided to attend X and have never looked back. I'm a Muskie til the day I die! (And I've already told Mrs. Sanford that she has to spread my ashes outside the Cintas Center when my time is up.)

I guess it's someone in Xavier marketing who directs the "Shirt" for each season but I think the "Musketeer For Life" concept is a brilliant idea for next year's shirt!

And, for Xavier's first nationally televised game, everyone in attendance should be given one fo' free! The school has plenty of time to get a sponsor to pay for them.

This looks like an excellent thread for my first post after lurking for the last month or so. I graduated in 1987. A top hoops memory from back in those days was the double OT victory over Ohio State in the NIT. Was able to afford season tickets beginning in 1993. It's been a fun ride and looking forward to much more! Now that the shock and anger from Monday is beginning to fade a bit, I'm starting to refocus on all that we Muskie fans still have.

Hopefully the players feel this way too! The front of the jersey says Xavier and not 'Miller'.:D

First Post...Talking about being a Musketeer.

I love it!

Doesn't it suck NOT being a Musketeer?

I wouldn't know DC Muskie.

Phoning ringing off the hook for coaches who want to be Musketeer for what five, seven years?

Yeah, I guess so...

Yeah, well you don't need to call to be a Musketeer for Life, baby. You just freaking DO IT!

He's popping Xavier.

But would you blame him if he did? I mean, let's be honest here, CJ's awesome and he knows it.

But good point either way, CJ reps Xavier...and we are "killin' it!"

Side note: I really like when a watermelon-hat wearing Jimmy Carter pops his Xavier jersey (see avatar).
