Scheduled for Tuesday at Noon THEIR TIME, thats 3pm our time from their basketball arena.
Those who need closure or are trying to lose weight and want to lost back tomorrow's lunch as well can watch live at http://www.arizonaathletics.com/
If you want to lose that midnight snack you just had, head over there now, they already have a nice cheery full splash page.
Apparently they are also planning on showing him off at their softball game later this week.

Not sure that anyone will want to watch (I don't), but here's the stream for Arizona's press conference at 3pm. Didn't see it posted anywhere else - just passing the info along.
It says you may have to download a plugin if you're new to it.

...or at least until someone offers him more cash to come back east.
I can't imagine that Arizona would truly be a destination for Sean. I think he sees it as too much money to turn down, and a job with a lot of publicity.
The stakes are pretty high for him though. If he fails out there he won't be the hot commodity that he was here. He will just be another coach.
The Pac-10 hasn't exactly been a basketball Mecca lately either.

And so its now official - the darkest day in Xavier Basketball in the last 5 years, maybe longer.
As of now our former head coach $$$ is now a Wildcat. The chance of a last minute miracle pretty much ends when you are seen on the podium at your new job.
I wonder how long his honeymoon will last if he snaps a 25 yr NCAA appearance streak?
- Time to look a the framed, autographed photo of Miller on my wall and cry out "How can your forsake us like this!"
By the way did anybody note when Bobo switched from saying "Coach Miller" to "Arizona's Next Coach" Reality has set in. Face it, Bobo's might have been planning on taking it light this week, what with Sean Miller supposed to be on vacation, and Easter coming up. Now all of a sudden all his plans for this week, maybe next are shot to heck as he has to do what might be the hardest thing emotionally for an AD to do: replace a legend.

woah, slow down. legend? sean miller was a terrific coach for the last few years, but let's not go throwing that word around on a guy that's not been to a final four. you can't coach at a place for just 5 years and be considered a legend.

I'm hoping Dow goes ahead and does a transcript of this one as well.
Speaking of - is there a transcript of Sean's "Hi I'm your new head coach here at Xavier" presser? Be interesting to see a) if he recycles the same bull, folks say Huggins delivered almost a word for word copy to West Virginia that he did to Kansas State. and b) so we can see how well he lived up to his "Meet and Greet" presser here.

What's great about this line of questioning is that when sean can't produce the quality and quantity of wins UA is looking for, they'll turn on him so fast it'll make his head spin. They're already setting up the story for three years from now when the millers are run out of town. He was overpaid and took advantage of a school that was having financial troubles and on and on. Between this press conference and yesterday's "press conference" I have no respect for Sean Miller. And, to be honest, Chris Mack could be the second coming of Adolph Rupp, and I don't think I want him to coach here. I'm not sure I want someone to be our head coach (Mack) who is such good friends with someone (Miller) who has so little regard for the school that gave him his first head coaching gig. I really thought Miller had more class than this.

Okay, maybe legend is a bit premature, can we leave it at "a great coach".
So we weren't a mid-major when $$$ was coaching here, but now that he has moved on, suddenly not only are we a mid major we are "little old Xavier" that almost smacks of being called "low-major"!!!! And whats with the "we do things the right way here at Arizona" do you not see the pigsty you just inherited, do you not see the NCAA as soon as they are done with the tournament coming knocking on your door. Man, I really hope the NCAA hits Arizona with some wicked sanctions. Hey $$$ try recruiting with only half the schollies! Hey $$$ try recruiting with a multi year post season BAN. Hey $$$ try recruiting with a national TV ban. And don't be taking credit for the wins Arizona racked up while you were still "at little old Xavier" I mean he could not spend 2 minutes with his new AD coaching him on how to say Xavier.
Every last shred of "class act" I used to think of him is quickly being taken away. I imagine this is the emotional equivilant of a leg waxing with ultra hairy legs.
Okay amend my earlier post "hardest thing for an AD to do - replace a $$$ grubbing coach who you thought was deeply committed to your cause and in the timespan of 48 hours not only leaves you but manages to attempt to totally destroy everything he helped create"
That work better for you guys?
Did you guys think that maybe he only spent 5 minutes with the team becuase he needed his departure to be as cold and sterile as could be so that he could keep the little angel sitting one shoulder gaggeed while the little devil on his other shoulder could whsiper sweet nothings in his ear. This whole thing is really setting the stage for an epic "running Sean Miller out of town" party in a few years if he doesn't meet expectations.
He was hired by an AD that many regard as a total idiot who was desparate to land a coach
He was like the 5th guy they went after
He is getting paid a ridiculous amount of money.
The expectations are sky high from a program with no recruits right now.
They are facing possible NCAA sanctions
It has not yet been seen whether or not Sean can recruit out West. All of his ties are East coast. He can recruit "nationally" out there all he wants, but I still think he will find it hard to get a lot of east coast kids to come play in the middle of the desert where their families won't be able to see them.
It's not like Arizona is UNC and it a major destination for recruits.
How long are they going to give Miller before it is torches and pitchforks time?

A little class is all I ask for and apparently Miller doesn't have any. Maybe we should have every new coach read Coach Prosser transcripts on how to leave with CLASS.

I'm glad I wasn't watching that, but I probably shouldn't have been following it on this thread either. What a jerk.
I find it funny how $ean is talking about how he can win a national championship at Arizona. They've won 1 title there in the history of the program and that was with a hall of fame coach. They've been to 25 straight NCAA tourneys, but they've only won 1 title. Doesn't sound like a national championship factory to me. They produce national titles about as often as DC Muskie gets laid.
Heck, in the past 10 years, we've come closer to winning a national title than they have.
Miller has completely flip-flopped on what he thinks of Xavier. Well, he probably never believed what he was saying in the first place.
He constantly put Xavier on the same level as any other big-time program. He talked up our facilities, our commitment, our scheduling, etc., and now we're just "little 'ol Xavier". Screw you $ean!!!

It's true, I once got laid in 1997.

Xavier IS a small school and we are competing against much larger schools. I think we were the second smallest school in the NCAA. I don't think he meant this as some shot at Xavier.
This reminds me of being rejected by some girl in college. When you were after she was great. When she rejects you, she's just a bitchy chick with a bad personality.

Am i reading correctly that $$$'s own family looked pissed off, upset, and scared?
You know that extreme intense passion $$$ could have, I'm not sure I'd want to be at the opposing end of a family argument with him. "Honey, its 18 million dollars, I don't give a flying flip what you think, we're going to Tuscon, and thats that!" $$$'s wife spends Monday crying real tears in their bedroom while $$$ is giving his team, the most important people to him, 5 whole minutes before he puts on a rehearsed presser designed to make him look like the sad victim.
A$$hat doesnt begin to describe it.
Go Muskies - has this clown earned TWO years yet on your abandoning coaches shitlist?
What do we need to do to get the entire state of Arizona kicked out of the union! I don't even want him in the same country right now!

No, one year on the shitlist. Then I will forget about him. I don't stay up late enough to watch Arizona games anyway.

That is about the only thing that's nice about him leaving to a place like Arizona. It almost feels like he went to foreign country.

It is amazing that Sean accepted the job without him and his wife even coming to Tuscon to tour the area, check on schools etc... Maybe that is why his family looked like they saw a ghost.

I heard Andy and Red started a lot of this drug cartel violence after the boat restoration thing didn't go too well. The US Correctional System has failed again.

He was at the press conference. Has he hired an agent? He is not even a sure fire first round pick. Now Hill on the other hand is a top 10 pick so doubt he will be back.

What does enrollment size matter anyway?
It's not so much pissing off Xavier fans, he's already nailed that putt, it's just reinforcing the idea that Xavier can never compete with Arizona.
And having been dumped a lot throughout my life I can tell you this, almost of those chicks were bitchy.

Budinger already put his name in last year (see below) so he is gone. Per Bleacher report. Not sure about the others.
The Sporting News is reporting that Arizona junior forward Chase Budinger will announce he that will declare for the NBA Draft and not return for his Senior season. Collegiate players are only allowed to enter their name for the draft once in their college careers. Since Budinger entered his name last season before withdrawing, he is on his way to the league.

A lot. The bigger the school, the easier it is to raise larege wads of money to pay the coach. We just found that out.
Most (but not all) of the BCS schools are large public schools. And even the BCS private schools lose their coaches to large state institutions (see Marquette and Stanford).

Again, that's not a matter of enrollment, that's a matter of charter really. There are plenty of boosters at state programs across the country that aren't graduates.
If enrollment is the determining factor, we might as well close up shop and go home, because we'll never even reach Duke size.
There are schools we can compete with. Look at Miller turning down UVA, Georgia, etc.
I do believe the arms race is flew blown on right now with Cal/Huggie/Sean/Thad tree leading the way. In a sense, Sean could have set the bar for coaches that Xavier never comes close to again. I mean, turning down a million and half from UVA is no problem, but what if UVA comes out of the gate with 3.5 million the next time? Where will Xavier be then.
Just some thoughts.
